Volunteer Highlight: Ed Freeman

Meet one of our superhero volunteers: Ed Freeman!

Ed has been with the Necessity Pantry almost from the very beginning. Now he is an indispensable part of the operations of the Pantry, handling all our inventory, orders, pick-ups and financials, not to mention all his work on Pantry days, serving our neighbors. Ed is a member of St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Lee’s Summit.

Here’s Ed Freeman in his own words:

My name is Ed Freeman. I am a retired management consultant, who specialized in energy supply, delivery and pricing strategy and execution. I have been a volunteer at the Necessity Pantry for more than 10 years. Assisting at the Pantry has been and continues to be a wonderful and rewarding experience.

Doing things I know will help other people provides me a sense of purpose, but, more importantly, meeting the people we serve, getting to know them as friends and neighbors, and experiencing the gratitude they share with me for the assistance they receive, makes it worth every hour I spend helping to operate the pantry.
